Kerry in Japan amid heightened Korean tensions

US Secretary, John Kerry, arrived in Japan Sunday for his final stop in his Asian tour.  He met with Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida to talk about climate change, cyber security, and regional tensions.  Kerry says that the regional countries need to work very, very closely to come to a peaceful resolution.  Kerry also offers his nation’s military support against any North Korean attack.  He also stated that if North Korea were to get serious about ending its nuclear war program, the United States would be willing to talk with them.

I am very happy that Kerry is showing America’s willingness to aid another country, especially when it could very well benefit us.  I have to put out a cautionary note though; Kerry has to be careful about promising to aid South Korea right after we stopped fighting the war in Iraq.  I for one agree to “lend a hand”, but I can’t speak for everyone in the US. I would love to see a peace talk between the US and North Korea, that could become an inspiration if America could settle this with a peace talk an no guns or weapons.
